We are an immigration law firm with two attorneys: Harlan D. Karp and Paula E. Camino Fini. Our core practice focuses on U.S. Immigration and Nationality Law and in obtaining greencards or permanent residency for our clients. We collectively have nearly 25 years of experience in immigration law, share a combined 40 years of legal experience, and maintain a hands on, collegial approach to our client’s legal matters.
We focus on immigration issues affecting foreign physicians, their employers (hospitals and medical practices), foreign professionals, as well as their families, relatives, and friends. Although the bulk of our clients are foreign physicians and researchers, our clients hold a variety of occupations, ranging from teachers, professors, database administrators and computer professionals to small business owners, entrepreneurs, welders and religious workers. They come from all parts of the world. For foreign physicians, we handle J-1 waivers, Conrad 30 waivers, J-1 interested government agency and exceptional hardship waivers, nonimmigrant work visas such as H1-B O-1 visas (whether the physician is doing a residency or attending work). We help them obtain their greencard through PERM labor certifications, immigrant visas such as EB-11 extraordinary ability petitions, and/or national interest waivers. For other clients, we will pursue the H1-B visa, O-1 extraordinary ability work visa, PERM, and the EB-11/EB-21 immigrant visas. For eligible clients or their family members, we advise on consular processing of visa issues, such as securing the H1-B, H-4, O-1, O-3 visas, or visitor visas (B-1/B-2) at a U.S. Consulate, obtaining a TN visa, and other travel and work issues, such as advance parole, maintaining non-immigrant status and general work authorization. We also handle family based immigration – such as marriage based immigrant visa petitions and adjustment of status, fiancé visas, K-3 visas, and ways to reunify families. We consult with employers seeking to recruit and retain foreign professionals and help them navigate the complexity of U.S. immigration. We often accompany clients to their immigration interviews with USCIS. And ultimately, for any client, we work on obtaining U.S. citizenship and its benefits – a U.S. passport and the right to vote for our clients so they may fully participate in the American dream.
As descendants of immigrants who built this country, we are here to help today’s immigrants pursue their version of the American dream.
